Our eight-week Intermediate’s course is a great way to build upon or refresh your Tap Dancing!

Each Tuesday evening from 8-9pm we challenge your technique, whilst also learning new combinations and theatrical show stopping numbers! Everyone is welcome!

This course is perfect for dancers who have prior tap-dancing knowledge or experience and are looking to build upon their foundations. This course is for dancers who want to re-fresh or extend their tap dancing further! You will learn about new variations, drills, skills each week as well as learning musical theatre repertoire. We will work heavily on perfecting elevation steps such as grab offs, trenches, pullbacks, double knocks, as well as rhythmical variations working for consistency then speed. You will also learn how to stylise your tap techniques with body movement, so you can groove and tap in a theatrical style!

Class Time: 8:00-9:00pm

Shoes: You are welcome to wear any comfortable, closed-in supportive shoes. However, if you are looking to take regular classes, we recommend that you purchase a pair of tap shoes.

Curriculum:

Each class will have a focus on the curriculum below, as well as learning a a Musical Theatre Routine each and every week!

  1. Week 1: Welcome! Revise the basics and fundamentals.
  2. Week 2: Dig, Shuffle, Slap, Riff Rhythmic combinations.
  3. Week 3: Working on the barre, preparation for elevation steps, pullbacks, graboffs, wings, trenches.
  4. Week 4: Drills and Skills, Repetition of elevation steps.
  5. Week 5: Working Across The Room, shuffle beat turns, riff turns, slap beat turns.
  6. Week 6: Progressing Moving Combinations: Creating longer travelling sequences with varied and intricate rhythms.
  7. Week 7: Learning Tap Repertoire, ‘Bs Chorus’
  8. Week 8: Learning a Tap Repertoire Piece, learning to dance in an ensemble
  9. Week 9: Consolidation and Celebration of Routine
